• 4 slices of white bread
  • 4 slices of cooked ham
  • 4 slices of cheese (your choice, such as cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella)
  • 250 ml (1 cup) of milk
  • 1 egg
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Butter for frying

  1. Prepare the Bread Rolls:
    • Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin.
    • Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each flattened bread slice.
    • Roll each bread slice tightly into a log shape. Optionally, you can secure them with toothpicks.
    • Wrap each rolled sandwich in tin foil and refrigerate for at least an hour to help them hold their shape.
  2. Prepare the Dipping Mixture:
    • In a bowl, whisk together the milk and the egg.
    • Season the mixture with black pepper to taste.
  3. Coat and Fry the Rolls:
    • After an hour, remove the bread rolls from the refrigerator and unwrap them.
    • Dip each roll into the milk and egg mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
    • Heat a generous amount of butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
    • Fry the rolls in the butter, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. This should take a few minutes per side.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the rolls from the pan and drain on paper towels if necessary.
    • Serve warm, perhaps with a side of your favorite dipping sauce or a simple salad.

Enjoy your delicious ham and cheese rolls!
